Dalglish hits out at Liverpool players after ‘unacceptable’ performance

Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has slammed his side after were defeated 3-1 by Bolton and put in a pitiful performance at the Reebok Stadium.

“[I’m] annoyed and disappointed,” said Dalglish. “More so about the attitude, commitment and approach to the game, it wasn’t there. It wasn’t what we’ve done here before. All season we’ve been complimentary about the way the boys have gone about their work, I don’t think you can say that today. It was certainly an unacceptable performance. Their approach to the game was poor, whether they’ve got their minds on the two games at the end of the week [against Manchester City in the Carling Cup and Manchester United in the FA Cup], I don’t know, but every game we play is an important game. If we want any success at this football club then [the players] have to respect every opponent that we play against. They’re not going to just turn up and get a result. And at the same time, more than that, they [need to] respect their own football club and if they don’t understand what the football club is all about then that’s their problem, I’m sure we’ll get plenty of people that do understand.”
