Rodgers “can’t fault the players” after West Brom defeat

by David on February 12, 2013

Typical comments by Brendan Rodgers following Liverpool’s 2-0 defeat to West Brom at Anfield. As usual, Rodgers claimed he “can’t fault” his players and that they “gave everything in the game”.

“The players gave everything in the game.

“After all the shots and attempts at goal, we just couldn’t make the breakthrough – and the longer it goes on, it gives the opponent that wee bit more encouragement.

“But I can’t fault the players. I thought they gave everything tonight – it was just one of those games where we needed that first goal” Rodgers told the official Liverpool website.

In total, Liverpool had 25 efforts at West Brom’s goal, with seven on target and Rodgers added:

“The players gave everything. We weren’t at our best tonight, but we were certainly on the front foot and looking to create.

“It was a good away performance from West Brom – if you come, defend and keep the score at 0-0, you’re always in with that chance.

“Ben Foster made some brilliant saves tonight that kept them in the game.

“I’m disappointed for the players. They’ve been on a terrific little run, especially here at home.

“We’ve defended very well throughout the season here and we’re disappointed with the [first] goal. The second goal was one where you’re chasing the game and you get caught on the counter attack, and he’s put it away well.”

So sick and tired of Rogers’ silly comments… yes, the players were at fault…. who else… baggies had 5 shots on goal and scored two…. Liverpool had some twenty shots on goal and produced zero goal…. now, don’t fucking tell me that the players gave everything… if they did, why the hell are we buying such losers!

I honestly feel that Brendon Roger’s starting eleven was inappropriate. Jordan Henderson & Shelvey both were in effective and Jamie Carragher has made a wise decision to retire. Liverpool as a team are inconsistant and probably need to be assessed by a Sports Psychologist. Brendon Rogers thus far has not been successful in
getting the maximum from his squad. I have been a Liverpool fan for approximately thirty
two year and their current quality of inconsistant football is bitterly disappointing.
