Brendan Rodgers in a report in the Independent, has suggested that he is ready to go back to the transfer market this coming January to further strengthen Liverpool‘s squad and possibly sustain a title challenge.
Speaking after seeing his side beat Sunderland 3-1 on Sunday, Rodgers felt that the key is keeping up with the clubs around his side at the top of the table and then possibly making further additions in the transfer window;
“Now we can only concentrate on the league up until Christmas. So we have to make sure we stay up in that top six in the league and keep fighting and hopefully we can reinforce in January.”
However, the Liverpool boss is confident that the squad he has is a strong one and is capable of keeping Liverpool close to the top of the table;
“We have got a very good side. I think we showed that in the games we have played so far.
“For example the games against Manchester United, not only in the cup but also in the league – against a top team we showed that we are capable of harm and making sure we win those games.”
Rodgers spent quite wisely this summer, adding quality in the form of Iago Aspas, Mamadou Sakho, Luis Alberto, Tiago Illori, Simon Mignolet and Victor Moses.
