Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish is ready to splash out for Bolton Wanderers defender Gary Cahill. The Daily Mail says having lost out to Manchester United for Phil Jones in June, Dalglish is searching for a central defender in the mould of Bolton’s England man Cahill.

“Spending money does not guarantee you success,” said Dalglish. ”(But) I don’t know of any football club that has ever had success that has not spent money. So it is necessary.”
